Overview and Evidence[]

Nightcrawlers, sometimes referred to specifically as Fresno Nightcrawlers, are an allegedly paranormal race of semi-humanoid entities named for their seemingly nocturnal behavior. Brought into the public consciousness in 2008 when a Fresno man seemingly captured them crossing his lawn on surveillance footage, the nightcrawlers have steadily grown in popularity in the paranormal enthusiast community, quickly growing to be one of the most popular alleged paranormal beings in the vein of mothman or the Flatwoods monster. Since the initial video in 2008, several more sightings of similar creatures have been reported across North America, making them seemingly no longer restricted to Fresno.

The nightcrawlers are always described in nearly identical ways. They are allegedly semi-humanoid beings with pale white skin, small heads, and no arms. Their heads are generally described as being featureless ovals with no discernible eyes, nose, or mouth. Their most prominent feature is their legs, which are long and thin. Oftentimes, they appear to be wearing flowing garments of some sort, possibly suggesting sapience and knowledge of clothing. They are also said to walking in a strange bowing gait, although this detail is not present in all reports.

Paranormal enthusiasts usually propose that nightcrawlers are a species of extraterrestrial, possibly due to their vague similarities with the typical 'grey alien' often reported in modern times. It has also been suggested that they are not from space but are instead interdimensional beings from another plane of existence. Skeptics, on the other hand, dismiss these notions as unfalsifiable and have suggested that the nightcrawlers in the original Fresno video were simply puppets or some sort of computer-generated imagery. It is often claimed that local Native American tribes have known about the nightcrawlers for years, but this claim has been debunked.[1]

Alleged Sightings[]

First-Person Accounts[]

Entered my friends backyard 5 acre forest at night close to 1 am and both of us immediately saw something out of place down the path below about 30-40 feet away from us in between the trees that was tall and white. It appeared to be completely white and soft like light, but it did not illuminate the trees or ground around it. There was no face or any facial features we could see, no arms and it was shaped in a upside down V or U. It was making creepy swaying movements with its (whole body) two legs left to right back and forth silently still standing on the forest floor in the exact same spot the whole time we saw it. It was so white that you could see the shadow being cast on while it was swaying. It did not pick up its legs or walk at all. I can only explain it as looking like 7-8 foot really white, soft, shiny separated curtains in the shape of a upside down V or U with bulkiness/shape to the top moving left to right in a specific motion standing on the forest floor in the same area between the trees making absolutely no sound, and there was absolutely no wind. It was beautiful to look at but terrifying at the same time. We watched it in silence as it was swaying and I started to feel impending doom (the sinking feeling in your chest) "set in" and it felt like I was going to die or something bad was going to happen. I told my friend specifically "I don't like this", he agreed, and we immediately left the forest. We went back in the morning and there was nothing out of the ordinary (Spiderweb, Garbage, etc.) in the spot where we saw the Supernatural Being. [sic][2]

Last year a friend and I went to Cuba for vacation. We were on the Playa Ancon coast. It was New Year's day, around 3 am when it happened.

After a night of drinking and dancing we decided to go to the beach for a little bit. It was nearly pitch black outside, and we were just walking around on the shore talking and looking at the stars. Suddenly my friend calls my name and tells me to look down the shore. What we saw, was a radiantly glowing white figure, about 300 meters away. It had long legs and a head, standing about 7 foot. I immediately thought of the Fresno Nightcrawler, though at the time I didn't know what it was called (we nicknamed it the Ocean Alien).

My friend said that before I had seen it, it was just standing there, and for a moment it looked as though it had stepped into the water, submerged completely, and then stepped back onto the beach. We stared at it for a couple moments, and then it started taking slow steps towards us. We both got so scared and we booked it back to our hotel room without looking back. We were both rattled so we didn't sleep for most of the night.

The next few days of our trip we asked guests and employees at our hotel about what we saw. We even went to the city closest to our hotel and asked a bunch of locals, and nobody knew what we were talking about or could provide any possible explanations for what we saw. We even went back to the beach a few other nights around the same time but never saw it again.

Unfortunately we were both so frightened by the 'Ocean Alien,' neither of us thought to take our phones out and take any photos or video. Does anybody have any idea of what it could have been? I've done some research about Cuban folklore and cryptid sightings and haven't found anything even remotely similar.[3]
